Appointing a solicitor

It is important when selling your home that you appoint a suitably qualified solicitor to work on your behalf throughout the process. If you are unsure who you would like to appoint, speak to one of our team. We can provide you with a list of solicitors who are all qualified to assist you and who have provided excellent service to our clients in the past.

Among other things, you must inform your solicitor of:

  • Defects to the home
  • Tenants currently living there
  • Building certificates pertaining to the home
  • Swimming pool certificates of compliance

This information is crucial for them to be able to construct the contract correctly on your behalf.

Agency agreement

Before Ballard Property can act on your behalf an agency agreement, advertising schedule and acknowledgement receipt must be signed. This agreement is a legal document and allows your agent to begin the process of advertising, selling or renting your property according to your wishes. Until this agreement has been signed, your agent is unable to act in your best interests on your behalf. A copy of the signed agreement will be returned to our office and one will be left with you.
